Today, April 4th is the International Landmine Awareness Day. Our project, Survivors of Conflict, which we do in close co-operation with the Norwegian Red Cross and Red Cross Haugland Rehabilitation Centre started by giving young persons affected by land mine injuries education and rehabilitation according to need. Our students will arrange a special day on Landmine awareness on Saturday:
1100-1300: Kantina activities during brunch. Students share information and impressions from landmine affected countries. Information wall.
13.00: Kahout quiz.
15.30-17.30: Goalball and Race in pairs
19.00-20.00: Sharing Circle. Survivors sharing their stories
A video, made by Geireann (RCN ’19) was used to help promote the day.
On 8 December 2005, the UN General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. We marked the day yesterday.
