We are very proud and grateful that our students are able to take part in the Annual Norwegian Maths Competition – the Abel Prize.

The Olympiad consists of two selection rounds and a final round. In the first round, the participants receive twenty problems, each with a choice of five answers, to be solved in 100 minutes. The best 10% of the participants are then granted entry to the second round.  This Academic Year we had twenty-five students participating in Round 1 on November 7th, 2013 – out of a total of 3474 participants from 234 schools. Ten of them qualified for the 2nd Round on 16th January among the 345 participants from the rest of Norway, and three were invited to the finals in Trondheim on March 4th  with 25 other contestants.
Our congratulations go to Ricardo Montalvo Guzman who was placed 4th, to Yaojie Hu who was placed 5th, and Gong Pei who was 10th overall.
This year, Prime Minister Erna Solberg was present at the Prize Ceremony.
