Communications Coordinator

We are looking to hire a dedicated Communications Coordinator to join our Advancement Team on a permanent contract from January 2020.

S/he will be in wholehearted sympathy with UWC Red Cross Nordic’s ethos, aims and objectives and will find guidance in the College’s Strategic Plan.

Like the other UWC colleges, UWC Red Cross Nordic is strongly committed to the mission of UWC and strives to deliver a challenging and transformational educational experience to a diverse cross section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future.

The College has its 25th anniversary in 2020 and will host a series of events that involves key stakeholders. The Nordic region is an important part of our target audience. Tasks are to produce publicity material, work for our visibility in the public and media, and engage in promotional events for a global reach.

Relevant applicants should be able to communicate with both Nordic and international stakeholders and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A relevant bachelor’s degree and professional experience in the field of communication is strongly recommended.

Responsibilities 

Collaborate with the Director of Development to develop and implement an effective communications strategy and action plan directed to our target audiences. Processes for public relations is an integral part of this.

Write, edit, and distribute content, including social media, website material, newsletters, publications, press releases, annual reports and other material that communicates ongoing activities at UWC RCN and UWC Connect, especially those that have relevance to our mission.

Work actively towards the media to arrange for interviews and publication material to be made.

Play an active role in establishing a CRM system for relevant users at the College.

Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the College, and coordinate publicity events as required.

Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.

On occasions advise the Central Management Team on strategic decisions regarding internal communication.

Workplace 

The workplace is at UWC Red Cross Nordic at Haugland in Fjaler Municipality.

The position reports to the Director of Development.

On a daily basis s/he will also cooperate with the Alumni Officer and the Daily Leader of UWC Connect.

The job involves ongoing cooperation with communications and engagement positions within the UWC and the Red Cross movements, locally, nationally and internationally.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or related fields.

Relevant experience in a communications role.

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate in English and Norwegian.

Good time management and organizational skills.

Practical skills related to the tasks, including proficiency in design, publishing software, photography, video making and social media.
